The OECD is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year. For half a century, our organisation has worked to improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. This also means that we put strong focus on three of the key challenges of today’s global economy: Jobs, Jobs and Jobs.

After the worst financial crisis, many countries have to cope with huge fiscal deficits and high unemployment at the same time. At the OECD, we strongly believe that dialogue between the public and private sector is vital to define policy solutions to such complex economic, employment and social challenges. Against this background, we have again joined forces with UniCredit to address one of the key global priorities at this year’s East Forum: how to promote the creation of more and better jobs for all.

We need to generate opportunities for every individual, in particular the many youth who are at present unemployed. Targeted support for the most vulnerable and good social policies, labor demand side measures and investing in education and skills...

The “Sinfonica” concert will mark the final evening of East Forum 2011, an unprecedented event featuring one of Italy’s most intense voices, which will tug at the heartstrings through the universal language of music.

Fiorella Mannoia, accompanied by her band and the magnificent Roma Sinfonietta orchestra, conducted by Maestro Maurizio Abeni, will perform in an extraordinary charity concert in the timeless setting of the Terme di Caracalla.
